Zerto upgrade for Hyper V sees it as a new install

Modified on Fri, 25 Aug, 2023 at 12:22 PM

Issue:

When running the Zerto upgrade executable for Hyper V, no existing version is detected and it sees it as a new install.

Resolution

1. Check the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ and find the Zerto entry.
2. Check the folder name that is register is referring to. Ie: 83NJ1N378N1BN721TGEBN189

3. Locate another EXACT build of Zerto and take a copy of the program cache folder.
3. Create that folder and name it the same as the key (83NJ1N378N1BN721TGEBN189) in the Zerto program cache folder and move the install files in the PrograData/appcache with the proper name from register.
4. Checked that installer works like upgrade.
