How to Test connectivity between ZVMs

Modified on Tue, 8 Jul at 9:30 AM

Summary

The network/VPN is down or the required ports are not open. The following may be symptoms observed which would prompt a user to verify connectivity between sites:

  • VPGs show RPO not meeting SLA.
  • Syncs show no movement or no ETA on when they will finish.
  • Site or VRAs showing as disconnected from peer site or VRAs.

ZVM to ZVM Tests

If ICMP traffic is allowed, ping can be used to verify IP connectivity to rule out network connectivity issues.

Telnet can be used to validate that the required ports are open.

To verify connectivity between ZVMs first get access to the ZVMA shell via the Appliance Manager

From the shell on one ZVM and run the following to its peer site IP address:

telnet <peer ZVM IP address> 9071

Repeat the above step from the other ZVM.
