When a file, or entire backup set, is deleted from DS-Client (DS-User) using retention or delete options, the data is removed from the Production DS-System and the deletion request is automatically forwarded to the Replication DS-System.
- If the backup set was deleted completely from the DS-System and the deletion request was initiated from the DS-Client:
- DS-System will mark the backup set as deleted and will forward the replication delete request to the Replication DS-System.
- Replication DS-System will start the replication delete process to delete the entire backup set from the Replication DS-System.
Note: The backup set on the Replication DS-System will not be automatically deleted in the following scenarios:
- Only files within a backup set are deleted
- Retention is enforced
For these scenarios, deletion must be initiated manually from the DS-Client.
- If the entire DS-Client is removed from DS-Operator (deletion is initiated from the DS-System), the corresponding data (backup sets) will be removed from the Production but NOT automatically removed from the Replication DS-System.
In this scenario, the DS-Client removal must be also performed from DS-Operator while connected to the Replication DS-System.
This behaviour prevents the deletion of the data, accidentally, without a request from end-user (DS-Client).
