Site connection to hypervisor manager down due to expired service account password

Machine-distilled from a resolved support ticket on 2026-09-28. Source ref: cf55ba355550. Verify before relying on it.

Applies to: Zerto on vSphere, version not stated in the ticket

Symptom: The site shows a 'recovery is possible' state and raises the alert that the connection between the site and the hypervisor manager (vCenter) is down. Replication stops syncing until the connection is restored.

Cause: The password for the service account that the ZVM uses to connect to vCenter had expired, so the ZVM could no longer authenticate to the hypervisor manager.

Resolution: 1. When this alert appears, check whether the vCenter service account used by the ZVM is locked out or has an expired password. 2. Reset or renew the service account password in the directory or vCenter as appropriate. 3. If the password value has changed, update the stored vCenter credentials in the ZVM configuration so it uses the new password. 4. Confirm the site reconnects to vCenter and that replication resumes syncing. 5. To prevent a repeat, consider a non-expiring password policy for the service account, or schedule password rotation together with a ZVM credential update.
