Cause:

When replicating data with Zerto Virtual Replication, it is common to have a replication site in a time zone different than that of the production site.  As such, an administrator might wonder what date and time settings are required for Zerto Virtual Replication to function properly.

Solution:

All VMware and Zerto components related to Zerto Virtual Replication should be set to their respective time zones and local times.  This should be configured at the machine clock level, and they should all be synchronized using NTP.

These components include:

  • VMware ESX/ESXi hosts
  • VMware vCenter servers
  • Zerto Virtual Manager VMs (ZVMs)
