Symptoms

The error is reported when attempting a restore for a SQL Server backup set.

Cause

a) There is not enough space on the target restore computer to accommodate the dump file or the dump file was altered when manipulated after the restore ( e.g. copied from one place to another, then attempted to be be restored using SQL tools ).

b) The backup target SQL Server instance version is newer than restore target SQL Server instance version.

Workaround

a) Ensure there is enough space on the target restore computer to accommodate the dump file(s). If the restored dump file(s) are copied from one place to another after being restored with DS-Client, ensure they do not get altered / corrupted.

b) Ensure the target restore SQL Server instance version is newer or the same as the SQL Server instance version holding the database(s) attempted to be restored.
